Who is Hannah?

In a family of six, I am the youngest of four children. Being the youngest taught me many things about life that translate onto the court. For example, how to be tough and sticking up for myself. In addition, I feel as if I have matured much quicker than kids my age. Always being surrounded by older kids, I learned how to act properly and learned that foolishness was not tolerated.

Growing up I was always active. I started playing soccer when I was two and continued to play until I was 13. I also played softball for eight years. I gave both sports up to focus on basketball. However, four years ago I started playing volleyball for my school team. My freshman year I made the JV team and by sophomore year I made varsity. My junior year I started as the right side hitter and was voted by my teammates and coaches to be captain of the 2023 season. Outside of sports, I love to spend time with my family and friends, listen to music, cook, bake, travel and enjoy the outdoors.

Why Basketball?

I started playing basketball when I was nine years old. At first I was hesitant to try the sport because I was very happy playing softball and soccer. I didn't know if I would have time to juggle three sports plus school. Looking back now, I am beyond grateful that my parents encouraged me to try basketball. After the first day of tryouts, I instantly fell in love with the game. Since then, it has become my passion. I played recreational basketball for two years before joining a travel team. After two years of travel basketball, I decided to take my game to the next level.  I began playing AAU basketball for Coach Dave Taylor. Under his coaching, he has taught me a tremendous amount about life on and off the court. I have developed a strong set of fundamentals and I continue to learn about the game to further my basketball IQ. Since middle school I have played up and continue to play against older girls and guys. I am the starting power forward for the Masuk girl basketball team and have been since my freshman year. Playing against older guys and girls increases my skills and also my love for the game.  Boxing out, rebounding, performing the back end rotation, screening, defending the pick and roll, scoring off the pick and roll and playing high post are all skills I excel at. I thrive on how physical and fast paced the game is.  As a leader, I share my knowledge, encourage others, have self discipline, bring a positive attitude and high energy to the game.  Most importantly I lead by example and have upmost respect for my coaches.  One thing that every coach has said about me, regardless of the sport, is "Hannah is very coachable."
